Instructor Spotlight: Performer, Professional & Champion: Meet Ms. Shaelyn Spriggs

This month, A Dance Place is pleased to introduce you an amazing young woman in our November ’17 dance instructor spotlight who we are proud to have as a part of our top-notch instructional team, Ms. Shaelyn Spriggs.

A Love For Dance And Passion For Excellence 

Shaelyn Spriggs was born in Lander, Wyoming and began her dance training at The Dance Academy directed by Susan Cooper, at age 4, where she also competed. At the age of 14, Shaelyn began student teaching ballet and jazz at The Dance Academy and continued until graduation. Throughout high school, she was also involved in the Lander Valley High School Dance Team, coached by Susan Cooper, which offered her the opportunity to travel to London, England for the Varsity Spirit Tour. She continued her passion for being a performer, on scholarship, at the University of Wyoming’s Theatre and Dance Department. In May, 2017, she received her B.A. in Dance at the University Wyoming under the direction of Marsha Knight, Margaret Wilson, Jennifer Deckert, Lawrence Jackson, Aaron Wood, and Maurice Watson where she also joined the Golden Spurs Dance Team coached by Keith Smith.

Relentless Pursuit Of Championship Performances

Shaelyn’s professional accolades include: first in category for solos at Spotlight Dance Cup, Starpower, and Thunderstruck, and FDC People’s Choice Winner for a contemporary group piece choreographed by Susan Cooper; Lander Valley High School Dance Team state champion titles in 2010, 2012, and 2013 and reserve champion in 2011; Universal Dance Association all American in 2010, 2011, and 2012; Performance in UW Snowy Range Summer Dance Festival and the Universal Dance Association in Las Vegas, and various other recognition through the American College Dance Association.

Shaelyn joined A Dance Place in 2017.
